Hôpital de La Tour’s Collaborative Approach to Measure and Improve Patient Value
Hôpital de La Tour’s Collaborative Approach to Measure and Improve Patient Value
Measuring patient value delivered by a shoulder prosthesis in the healthcare sector.
It is essential to measure the value of medical services as this not only makes it possible to offer high quality services, but also ensures that they are offered at the right cost. VBHC is still in its infancy in Switzerland, although innovations are being driven by La Tour Hospital
This VBHC study was the result of a collaboration between the doctors at La Tour Hospital and the institution. Its objective was to use a value-based approach to measure the value provided by a shoulder prosthesis.
Patient reported outcomes measures (PROMS) were recorded from patients, gathered alongside information from their clinicians such as adverse events. By dividing the clinical outcome of treatment by the cost of that treatment, the value to the patient could be determined
This approach ensures health systems of the future are sustainable and focus on providing optimal benefit to patients, by encouraging quality over quantity.
