Incorporating Value in Investment Decisions in Health across Europe

Rising health expenditures, along with expectations for better health care, patient empowerment and access to innovation are the defining challenges for healthcare systems across Europe. Value based healthcare is a promising alternative, however it requires adopting a societal perspective, incorporating macroeconomic views and quantifying the total gains obtained through better health outcomes. In order to realize this vision, institutional capabilities will need to be improved across Europe, enabling a transition from paying for standardised inputs to value based solutions.
